BLEND Checks Out Taster's Table Club

With food bloggers taking over everyone’s social media feeds, it’s hard to keep up with the latest restaurants to check out, new food to try, and of course the most picturesque food to add to your camera roll. Taster’s Table Club, founded in Austin, Texas, has figured out a way to help you live the food blogger lifestyle.

Walking into Brama Restaurant for a Taster’s Table Club event, there was a table set up ready to seat about 16 people, small menus with the six-course meal for the evening, and the flurry of chitchat among the attendants. You are given a pen to rate the food items on the menu from one to six depending on which course you believe that you’ll enjoy the most, one being the highest and six is the lowest. At the end of the evening you rate the items again by which ones you actually enjoyed the most to the least. With portions of different food choices slowly stacking up on the dinner table, conversation fills the air with the exchanging of opinions about the food and the banter with the strangers sitting on your left-and-right.

“Our whole goal was to introduce new people to not necessarily new restaurants, but new restaurants for them.”

— Max Kunik, Co-founder of Taster’s Table Club

Every restaurant is vetted beforehand by Max and the founders of the company, which only allows local, non-chain restaurants to participate in the dinners. Every dinner has a choice between three different restaurants to choose from, so there is a wide variety of places that you will be able to try when you’re a member of the club.

Taster’s Table Club wants to bring people together to try new restaurants that they wouldn’t necessarily try on their own. They have a $100 membership fee which includes access to monthly dinner events, six course meals, and 10% off at all of the restaurants that are members with the club. Every dinner ranges between “$35 to $60, with tax and tip included,” said Kunik. What the membership doesn’t tell you, is that the dinners also include amazing company and a great experience.
