Leon Bridges

Fort Worth’s very own hometown hero will be headlining the fest. Since his 2016 album release, Coming Home, Bridges has been at the forefront of the R&B music scene. His most recent record ‘Good Thing’ was released last May and was described as “more elastic, eclectic approach to songwriting that feels perfectly contemporary” by Pitchfork Magazine.

Khrubagin

Imagine 60s psychedelic-rock, meets funk, meets instrumental bass-heavy and you get Khrubagin. Hailing from Houston, the three-piece creates music that is super relaxing, it feels as if you’re listening to a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack.

Abhi the Nomad

An emerging artist who’s mixing rap and hip-hop with electric guitars and keyboards, Abhi the Nomad’s new release ‘Marbled’ is one that will be getting big for sure. He will also be performing at KVRX Fest— UT Austin’s college radio fest— in May.

Sailor Poon

If the name doesn’t already interest you, their music definitely will. Sailor Poon one of Austin’s local favorites for punk music. Their lyrics are out of the ordinary and hilarious— with songs titled ‘White Male Meltdown’ and ‘Bingo Wings’.

Food:

It’s not a good festival if there isn’t good food as well, it seems like that won’t be a problem with Fortress Fest. Here are some picks that we’re excited about:

Salsa Limon

Being from Fort Worth myself, I can vouch for Salsa Limon’s bomb tacos. Revered around the Fort Worth area, they will be gracing the festival grounds this weekend.

Vegan Village

Vegans have no fear! Vegan-friendly meals will be around and abundant. There will be several local plant-based options, including the delicious Spiral Diner and Bakery.
